The Manawa softball team beat Wittenberg-Birnamwood 13-9 at home May 16.

The Wolves were able to put six runs on the board in the first inning, as five batters walked and Haley Reierson, Skye Amador and Lesley Wilz each had a base hit.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood got on the scoreboard in the top of the second, as Caitlin Stewart drove in a run. The next batter, Abbey Yaeger, hit a fly ball to Wilz, who then threw out a runner to complete a double play.

Manawa added four runs in the second to take a 10-1 lead.

The Chargers answered with four runs in the top of the third on RBI hits from Bailiee Behreandt, Kendra Stoltz and Stewart.

Claire Kreklow drove in a run for the Wolves in the fourth and Manawa added two more runs in the fifth for a 13-5 lead.

The Chargers scored twice in the sixth and seventh, but still came up short.

The Wolves will be back in action on Friday, May 20, as they host Tri-County at 4:30 p.m.
