Gunnell to present local auto history

John Gunnell will present “Driving Waupaca: The Automobile Industry in Wauapca” at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at the Holly Center, in Waupaca.

Gunnell, a local automobile enthusiast, is the owner of Hansen’s Garage, in Waupaca.

The program will feature the history of Waupaca’s automobiles and dealerships, along with the history of the Yellowstone Trail, the first transcontinental highway across the northern states.

Hansen’s Garage on Granite Street is located on what was once known as the Yellowstone Trail, the first U.S. highway to cross the continent.

The program is free and presented by the Waupaca Historical Society.

The Holly Center is located at 321 S. Main St.

Refreshments will be served.

The automobile program is presented the same week as Waupaca’s Rod and Classic Car Show, which is on Saturday, Aug. 27, in South Park.
