Traffic
• Aug. 17 – A woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident at about 3 p.m. in the town of Helvetia.

James Webb, 70, of Mena, of driving westbound on County Trunk GG near Lutz Road when he stopped his vehicle and began backing eastbound in the westbound lane.

Tiffany Harris, 41, of Iola, was driving southbound on Lutz Road and stopped at the stop sign to County GG. She tried to backup to avoid the other vehicle, but Webb’s vehicle struck the Harris vehicle in the intersection of County GG and Lutz Road.

Harris was transported to the hospital to possible injury. Webb and his passenger, Diane Woeppel, 75, of Conroe, were not reported as injured.

• Aug. 17 – One person was injured in a one-vehicle accident at about 6 p.m. in the town of Matteson.

Michael Foth, 46, of Clintonville, was driving southbound on Jepson Road when he did not stop at the stop sign with State Highway 156. According to the police report, Foth traveled through the intersection and attempted to make a right turn to travel west on State 156.

The vehicle traveled across both lanes of State 156 and entered the south ditch of the roadway. The vehicle traveled through the ditch and came to rest facing southwest.
Amy Foth, 31, a passenger in the car, was transported to the hospital for non-incapacitating injuries.

The police reported that alcohol was present and the driver’s ability was impaired.

• Aug. 15 – Two people died as a result of a two-vehicle crash at about 4 p.m. in the town of Bear Creek. The crash occurred on County Trunk T, about one mile north of State Highway 22.

According to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, Catherine McNamara, 45, of Manawa, appeared to have been traveling left of center when her southbound vehicle struck a northbound vehicle driven by James Stock, 38, of Bear Creek.

Stock was thrown from his vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

McNamara was trapped and extricated by the Bear Creek Fire Department. She was then airlifted to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah, where she later died.

Two children, ages three and 14, who were passengers in the McNamara vehicle, were also injured. One of the children was airlifted to the hospital while the second child was transported by Clintonville Ambulance to St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.
