Foundation’s Gala to ‘rock and roll’

Clintonville Area Foundation to hold fundraiser

The theme for this year’s Gala fundraiser banquet for the Clintonville Area Foundation will be “Rock and Roll to a Record Goal.”

The event is slated for Saturday, Oct. 22 at Mason’s Ridge in Clintonville.

The committee has been working to assure this year’s Gala is as successful as its previous efforts. The Gala is the Foundation’s only annual fundraising event.

According to Clintonville Area Foundation Gala Committee Chairperson Joanne Doornink, “Everything is falling into place nicely, thanks to the hard work of the members of our Gala committee.”

Those attending the event are welcome to dress in costume representing their favorite era of rock and roll music.

Themed artwork by retired Clintonville High School art teacher, Helen Waalkens, will be featured at the banquet in the decorations and centerpieces. Following the dinner, catered by Mathew’s Supper Club, the annual Community Hero Award will be presented.

The award and accompanying charitable fund were created by Dan Olk, a 1975 graduate of Clintonville High School who now works in Ames, Iowa, as a soil biochemist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Also as part of the program, a recent benefactor of the Clintonville Area Foundation grants will be recognized.

Reservations are $75 per person, which includes dinner and wine, the value of which is $30 per person. Therefore, all but this amount is tax-deductible. In addition, a limited number of raffles will be taking place during the evening’s events. Tickets will be available from members of the foundation board of directors.

Proceeds from this event go to the Clintonville Community Fund, which benefits local community needs. This past year, the Clintonville Area Foundation’s family of funds distributed more than $22,000 in grants and scholarships.

The Clintonville Area Foundation was established in 1995 with its mission to enhance and improve the social, cultural, educational, health and general well-being of people in the Clintonville area. A 12-member board of local community volunteers serves as advisors to the Clintonville Area Foundation.

In 2000, the Clintonville Area Foundation became a geographic affiliate of the Appleton-based Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region to utilize the expertise and stability of the second largest certified community foundations in Wisconsin, second only to Milwaukee.

Since then, the CAF has awarded nearly $400,000 in grants from charitable and scholarship funds created within the CAF by area individuals and families.
