Fall festival in Manawa

Event features food, crafts, games, car show

The 15th annual Fall Food and Craft Festival will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, on Second Street in downtown Manawa.

According to the Manawa Area Chamber of Commerce Marketing and Promotions Coordinator Carrie Poole, visitors can expect to see a variety of items including baked goods, farm produce, crafts and games.

“A car show will be part of Fall Fest again this year,” said Poole. “Anything on wheels is welcome.”

A chili cook-off will also take place.

“Contestants make four quarts of chili and bring it down to Fall Fest that morning,” said Poole. “The food is sampled and voted on by the public.”

The chili cook-off winners will be announced at 2 pm. with prizes awarded for first, second and third place.

Proceeds from the event are used to fund future events and sponsor other community activities.

Future events for the Manawa Area Chamber of Commerce will include a cooking show on Thursday, Nov. 17.

“We are excited to announce that we just set a date for Amy Hanten from Fox 11 to do a cooking show at the Masonic Lodge,” said Poole. “We are still ironing out all the details and more information will come later.”
