DNR biologist to discuss urban deer

Public meeting at Waupaca library

The city of Waupaca will hold an informational meeting about its urban deer issue at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, in the Waupaca Area Public Library’s meeting rooms.

The meeting will be open to the public. The meeting rooms are located in the lower level of the library.

During the meeting, Jake Fries, a Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources wildlife biologist, will present information about the different ways a municipality may address and issue and the levels of success of each of them.

Before working in Waupaca County, Fries worked in Dane County. He is familiar and experienced with the urban deer topic, City Administrator Henry Veleker said.

Veleker said Ald. Alan Kjelland requested there also be a discussion about whether there have been more instances of Lyme Disease in the city.
