The high school students, as well as fourth and fifth graders acquire fishing poles, fishing equipment and bait for the event.

They met at Weyauwega Elementary for a fishing lesson.

Elementary students and high school students were placed together in groups, so the elementary students were supervised during the project.

They hiked to the Waupaca River behind the school to see what they could catch.

All the students gathered together to observe what was happening in the river and the school’s backyard and to discuss what is happening in the ecosystem around them.

The high school students taught and assisted the elementary students as they prepared to fish and also during the fishing activity. They observed wildlife, plants and aquatic species.
