She was born on January 12, 1923 in the Town of Union (Waupaca County), the only child of Charles and Neta (Rowland) Winter. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peters Lutheran Church, Big Falls, WI. Carole graduated from Little Wolf High School, Manawa in 1940. She received her degree in teaching from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. On August 21, 1946, she married Arthur Beyersdorf at St. Peters Church, Big Falls by Rev. W. Lang. Art and Carole grew up in the same community and had gone to the same little country school, Shady Grove. They spent almost 62 years together when Art passed away on May 21, 2008. Carole pursued a career in teaching 38 years and has many fond memories of the students she taught. She taught in three rural schools, Shady Grove, State Road, and Cedar Dell. She had a part in publishing the Rural Schools of Waupaca County. She taught three years in Marion. In 1982, she retired after teaching the fourth grade for 24 years in Manawa. Carole loved doing puzzles of all kinds, attending plays and concerts put on by the schools and Lawrence Chapel, Organ Recitals, estate sales, socializing and going out to eat with friends and relatives. She also enjoyed a glass of wine, potato pancakes, and watching the ducks and geese on the lake from her patio. Her sense of humor, her smile and laughter touched so many lives. Her vitality and faith were an inspiration to many she met in her life. Carole was very active in the Waupaca County Retired Educators, serving as Membership Chair, Vice-President and President, the Manawa Modern Homemakers, Manawa Woman’s Club, Meals on Wheels, Bloodmobile, Election Board, Friends of the Library and helping at the Chicken Barbecue for the Manawa Lions Club where Art had been a member. During their years together, Art and Carole did lots of traveling, including all 50 states, Mexico, and three times to Europe, with Ireland being one of their favorites. On August 18, 1996 they celebrated their 50th anniversary with a host of many relatives and friends. In September 2003, they moved to Appleton. While there, they found it a privilege to attend services and Bible classes at Faith Lutheran Church where Carole made many new friends.
