Kroll, Vernon K.

vernonkrollVernon Keith Kroll, age 87, New London departed this life and passed into eternity on December 4, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at his residence.

He was born on December 26, 1928, in New London, son of the late Clarence and Hazel (Beyer) Kroll. Vernon was a member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London. He was employed at the Neenah Foundry until his retirement. He was an outstanding athlete and participated in pole vaulting, basketball, football, baseball and bowling. Vernon volunteered his time and was a successful basketball coach at Most Precious Blood Catholic School for 11 years where he was highly respected by his colleagues and players. He joined the US 11th Airborne Division after high school and served in Sendai, Japan from 1947 ~ 1950, where he performed 21 exhibition jumps during his time of service. Vernon met the love of his life, Elaine Mary Doro at Orihula Ballroom at a dance. They both were excellent dancers. They were married on October 20, 1951 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Poy Sippi and resided in New London until his death.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his wife Elaine, New London; six children: Cynthia (Michael) Devine, Sandra (Todd) Huber, Candis (Leanne) Kroll, Randy (Lea) Kroll, Andy (Beki) Kroll and Drs. Mandy (Paul) Miller; eight grandchildren: Heather Kleinbrook, Shana (Craig) Neesvig, Jared (Sarah) Kleinbrook, Sam (Jen) Huber, Joseph (Michelle) Huber, Toni (Josh) May, Casey (Kyle) Kelly and Sarah Miller; six great-grandchildren: Josey, Hattie and Marley Neesvig, Evan Kleinbrook, Zander May and Kota Kelly. He is further survived by a brother Donald (Felecia) Kroll, a sister Carol Mae Beger and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Belva Beaudoin and a son-in-law Joel Kleinbrook.

Funeral mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church New London with Fr. John Kleinschmidt officiating. Visitation will be held at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. and also at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
