By Holly Neumann

Twenty first-half turnovers hurt the Manawa boys’ basketball team Dec. 8 in an 80-33 loss to Shiocton in the Central Wisconsin 8 Conference opener for both teams.

Those 20 turnovers helped the Chiefs take a 56-14 lead into the locker room at halftime. By then, Shiocton had two players in double figures, as Wesley Brouillard and Brandon Spencer scored 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Chiefs then outscored the Wolves 24-19 in the second half.

Ethan Wiesner led Manawa with 12 points, while Bryce Millard added 11. Brouillard led all scorers with 15 points.

Manawa will head to Amherst at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, for a CWC-8 matchup with the Falcons.
