Fischer scores 37 points

Leighten Fischer scored a game-high 37 points Dec. 9 to lead the Iola-Scandinavia girls’ basketball team to a 60-44 victory over Weyauwega-Fremont.
The Thunderbirds outscored the Indians 31-14 in the first half, but the Indians came back with a 30-29 advantage in the second half behind 11 points from Taylor Folk.
Mia Wandtke also finished in double figures for the T-Birds with 11 points, while Erika Kisting added seven.
Folk led the Indians with 17 points and Kiley Akey chipped in with 14.
Fischer tied the I-S school record set by Jeanne Voie in the 1970s for the most points scored in a single game.
Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday, Dec. 13. I-S will travel to Bonduel to take on the Bears in a 7 p.m. Central Wisconsin 8 Conference matchup and W-F will host the Shiocton Chiefs at 7:30 p.m.
