Man charged with felony battery

Broken jaw follows underage drinking party

Jamal A. Pointer, 21, New London, is charged with substantial battery and disorderly conduct.

On June 4, 2016, Waupaca County Deputy Pat Gorchals spoke with a then-18-year-old male who accused Pointer of breaking his jaw.

The young man said he had been given a ride to an underage drinking party somewhere between New London and Manawa.

After arriving at the party, he paid “some guy” $5 for a cup but did not receive the cup. He began arguing to get his money back and Pointer allegedly punched him.

When questioned by Gorchals, Pointer reportedly said he hit the man one time.

Due to prior convictions for battery, criminal damage and disorderly conduct in Waupaca County and for felony bail jumping and disorderly conduct in Outagamie County, Pointer has been charged as a repeat offender.
