Weyauwega-Fremont and Pacelli came up with only one run each in the first seven innings of their Central Wisconsin 8 Conference softball matchup April 4.

The eighth inning was a different story, however.

Kati Kettleson’s two-run double turned out to be the difference in the game, as W-F scored three times in the bottom of the eighth for a 4-3 win over the Cardinals, the defending conference champions.

Pacelli had opened the scoring with a run in the top of the second, but the Indians answered with a run in the sixth.
The Cardinals scored twice in the top of the eighth to take a 3-1 lead.

Kiley Akey gave up seven hits, but also struck out seven batters to get the complete-game win on the mound.

Cadyn Ehrenberg, Hailey Krause and Alexa Greening each had two of the Indians’ nine hits off of Brook Nagorski. Krause drove in the Indians’ two other runs and Ehrenberg scored twice.

Christonna Shafranski had three hits to lead Pacelli.
