Anita Grace Stewart passed away peacefully on June 16, 2017 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
She was born and raised on the Leer farm on Anderson Rd. near Iola. She was baptized and confirmed at Hitterdahl Lutheran Church. She graduated from Iola- Scandinavia High School in 1934. Upon graduation, she moved to Chicago and later Oak Park, Illinois. She met her future husband, Jim Stewart, at a dance in 1941 and they married in 1946 after WW ll. She enjoyed a successful career as a real estate sales person. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in River Forest, Illinois for 40 years. In later life she moved to Raleigh, North Carolina to be near her family.
She is predeceased by her husband, Jim, her sisters, Ihla Thurber (Leer), Helen Leer, and brother Luther Leer. She is survived by her son Tim Stewart, daughter-in-law Cathy Stewart, grandchildren Chris, Mac and Lindsay Stewart and great grandson Henry Stewart.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 13 at 1:00 at Hitterdahl Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to the Hitterdahl Cemetery Association, PO Box 334, Iola, WI 54948.
