Coffee Shop opens in Manawa

By Holly Neumann

Deja Brew Coffee Lounge, located at 343 S. Bridge St., opened its doors to customers on July 25.

It will serve coffee, smoothies, caffeine-free drinks and more.

“Manawa is such a great community with lots of growth,” said Jamie Lane, who owns the facility along with her husband Allen. “We are excited to be a part of the revitalization that Manawa is going through.”

The customers agree.

“Manawa is growing,” said Sondra Reierson, who attended the preview opening for the business. “It is nice to see quality businesses moving into the downtown.”

The Lane’s already own and operate Winemakers Daughter, which is also located on Bridge Street.

“I love both coffee and wine,” said Jamie. “I know others do too so we thought that this would be a fun adventure.”

Deja Brew was created to be a laid back venue for people to hang out at and create friendships.

“We’re all about comradery,” she said. “So many times people get so busy that they forget to relax. We created a perfect setting for people to take a break with family and friends.”

Customer Andrew Forseth found coffee lounge to be very inviting.

“It has a comfortable feeling to it,” he said. “I can see myself coming here, grabbing a coffee and settling in with a good book to read.”

Deja Brew will be proving products that are locally sourced.

“This starts with our coffee,” Jamie said. “We will primarily brew Ruby Coffee, which is based out of Nelsonville. I love their approach to quality coffee that is sustainable and fair trade.”

They will use Dr. Smoothie for their Fruit Smoothies.

“Dr. Smoothie focuses on healthy products while conserving vital resources and water conservation,” she said. “It is 100 percent crushed fruit, with no added preservatives or artificial flavors.”

In addition they will also serve an assortment of pastries.

“We will eventually carry small food items that are grab and go,” Jamie said. “People are of course welcome to stay and eat, but we do not intend on being a restaurant.”

Their hope is to eventually add protein drinks to the menu as well.

“We are always looking for new ideas and I love to hear customer feedback,” she said. “Manawa is a great day trip, so stop by for some coffee, check out our great shops in town and end your day with some wine. It doesn’t get much better than that.”

Deja Brew Coffee Lounge will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
