Richter, Marie D.

Marie J. (Dain) Richter, age 86, Ogdensburg, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2017 at the Good Shepherd Home in Seymour.

 

She was born on June 17, 1931 in Ogdensburg, daughter of the late Erwin and Anna (Theisen) Dain. Marie graduated from Little Wolf High School in 1950. She married Donald Richter in 1951 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manawa. She helped raise six children; five sons and a daughter. Marie worked at Prange-Way for 25 years (23 of those years in the shoe department) enjoying contact with her customers. She was a Cub Scout leader, a member of St. Pius Christian Mothers in Appleton and also St. Patrick’s Christian Mothers, Stephensville. Marie enjoyed gardening, reading mystery novels and anything involving nature; especially the blackberry woods. In her later years bird watching become a favorite pastime and a few trips to the casino playing video poker.

Marie is survived by her five children: Lee (Kris), Appleton; Tom (Lori), Appleton; Judy Calmes, Seymour; Kurt (Pat), Oshkosh and Keith, Tampa, FL; nine grandchildren: Sara, Brian, Brittany, Megan, Josh, Amber, Tyler, Tony and Jessica; 11 great-grandchildren: Jaiden, Collin, Grant, Brody, Karter, Kendal, Camryn, Braxton, Saman-tha, Gwendalin and Aryanna. Additionally she is survived by three siblings, Rose Young, Bear Creek; Jack Dain, Tennessee and Joann Davids, Bowler; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Don) Gehrt, Evelyn Dain and Maryann Dain; numerous nieces, nephews, and wonderful neighbors Gary and Char Holtz, who made it possible for her to remain in her home after Donald passed away. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald in 2002, her son David in 2016; an infant brother Thomas; brothers, Arlyn, Francis and Mayford; sister Alice; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Fuhrmann, Joyce Streicher, Mary Dain; brothers-in-law, Lyle Young and Bruce Davids; daughter-in-law, Peggy Durben Richter and a very special friend Francis P. Hemauer.

Special thanks to Good Shepherd Nursing Home for taking care of Marie for the last four years, especially the CNAs on Birch Way and Unity Hospice for the last six months.

Funeral services for Marie will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at 11:00 a.m at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Stephensville with Fr. Richard Allen and Deacon Ken Bilgien officiating. Visitation will be held at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London from 4-7 p.m. and also at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Manawa.
