Comets drop home opener

Three-game sweeps on the road were the name of the game on the opening night of volleyball in the North Eastern Conference.
Denmark turned in one of five sweeps in conference play Aug. 31, as the Vikings took care of Waupaca 25-6, 25-8, 25-6 in the Comets’ home opener.
Other 3-0 wins included Wrightstown over Clintonville at Clintonville, Fox Valley Lutheran over Oconto Falls in Oconto Falls, Little Chute over Marinette in Marinette and Luxemburg-Casco over Freedom in Freedom.
The Comets will head to Appleton Thursday, Sept. 7, for a conference match with Fox Valley Lutheran before facing Bonduel, Shiocton, Southern Door and St. Mary’s Springs Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Shiocton Invitational in Shiocton. Games are scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m.
