Walking trail expands

Volunteers, local businesses help

With the help of volunteers, the Little Wolf River Walking Trail in Manawa has expanded.

“Recently, work was done on the latest trail project,” said Mary Craig, project chair. “With the help of the About Face group from Rawhide, volunteers from the community and the trail committee, the trail on Beech Street was completed.”

Beech Street is a busy street, and this project was a goal of Dewey Carl, who was a member of the Walking Trail Committee.

“This project was many years in the making,” Craig said.

American Asphalt blacktopped the trail as a donation. Quality Concrete helped in overseeing the project.

“The trail will be officially called The Dewey Carl Memorial Trail,” said Craig. “This will be dedicated in the spring of 2018.”

Trail projects are funded by the annual 5K/10K run at Rodeo time and by donations.

Donations to support upkeep of the trail may be sent to Little Wolf River Walking Trail, P.O. Box 121, Manawa, WI 54949.
