Vincent, Thomas W.

Thomas W. Vincent, age 72, of Waupaca, entered into rest on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017.

Thomas was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Canada on July 25, 1945 to Raymond and Meatha (Conner) Vincent. As a young man in his early 20s, Tom was eager to protect and serve his country so he joined the United States Army. He served in Vietnam and was very proud of his military background. Tom was known as a very joking man with an amazing sense of humor. He loved animals of all kinds and as a dog handler for a period of time he was even known to bring a few strays home from work. In earlier years, Tom liked to travel to Canada with his daughter, where they shared many unforgettable memories. A hobby that he was able to enjoy even while in the nursing home was going to the annual Iola car show, which he attended every year. One of his biggest passions and hobbies was artwork. He thoroughly enjoyed painting, drawing, and making ceramics. Tom was particularly fond of the outdoors and would regularly take moped rides with his friends from the nursing home to surrounding restaurants. He will be greatly missed by his daughter and grandchildren, whom he loved and cherished very much.

Thomas is survived by his daughter, Tina (Scott) Gafner of Appleton, WI; a brother, Edward (Linda) Vincent of Horn Lake, MS; four grandchildren, Trent, Tyler, Kyle and Sarah Wendt; many nieces, nephews, other close relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Viola Uhlitz, and a brother-in-law, Peter Uhlitz.

A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018 at the Main Chapel at the Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in King, WI.
