By Erik Buchinger

An 18-year-old Clintonville man was injured after he shot himself in the head on Dec. 27.

Clintonville Police Chief Jim Beggs said he has not been officially updated on the victim’s condition but heard he was getting better.
“Word of mouth on the street is the subject is improving,” Beggs said Tuesday, Jan. 2.

Beggs said he could not release the identity of the victim, and the investigation is ongoing as of press time.

At 8:59 p.m. on Dec. 27, the Clintonville Police Department responded to a Clintonville residence to assist the Clintonville Area Ambulance Service for a report of a gunshot victim.

Upon arrival, officers on the scene determined that the man suffered a gunshot wound to the head that was self-inflicted.

The ambulance service worked to treat the man’s wound and requested air transport by ThedaStar.

ThedaStar flew the victim to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah and transferred him to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.

Clintonville Police were assisted by the Clintonville Area Ambulance Service and the Waupaca County Department of Health and Human Services.
