Thunderbirds maintain early lead

The Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds handed the Chilton Tigers at 58-51 loss during a boys’ basketball game in Iola.
The T-Birds started out strong taking a first-half lead of 33-18. Charlie Stockwell scored 12 of his game high 16 points during that period.
Chilton came alive in the second half of the game. Camden Bowe and Will Kapral combined for 23 points for the Tigers, but still came up short.
Three of the T-Bird players scored in the double digits.
Stockwell led with 16, followed by Justin Sivertson with 15 and Connor Kurki with 14.
Kurki brought down 13 rebounds followed by Sivertson with 8.
Kapral scored 18 points for the Tigers, followed by Ryan Broeckel with 12.
The T-Birds will be back in action on Jan. 9 when they host Bonduel.
