Williams, Daniel Lawrence Sr.

Daniel Lawrence Williams Sr. was peacefully taken by our heavenly Father on Friday, January 19, 2018.

Daniel, or as he was known to many family and friends as Uncle Dan, was born on January 13, 1945 in Port Washington, WI, son to Marjorie Williams and Andrew Williams. After high school, Dan joined the U.S. Army and reached the rank of Cpl E-4. He served his country with honor during the Vietnam War between 1965-1969. Upon returning home, he met and fell in love with Marti. They were married in 1971, and together they raised two children, Dan and Kathy. Dan and Marti lived in Phoenix, AZ from 1976-1992. He owned and operated a gun shop there, having mentored many in the Phoenix area about gun safety and care. In 1992, they moved back to Wisconsin and built their home near Saxeville, WI. Dan took on the hobby of amateur radio in 1999 gaining the technician class license. His call sign was KB9VLG, in the ham world he was called the “very lucky guy”, and no truer statement can be said. He volunteered much of his free time to all communities in which he lived. Dan also was the ARES/RACES Waupaca Co. Emergency Coordinator from 2003-2005. He loved to help people and the door to their home was always open to everyone. Some of the fondest memories amongst family and friends are the times when people just started showing up to their home and filling the room with laughter until all hours of the night. Dan will be dearly missed by all of his loving family and friends.

Dan is survived by his wife, Marti Williams of Wild Rose, WI; his mother, Marjorie Williams of Wild Rose, WI; two sons, Wade Plant of Milwaukee, WI and Daniel Williams, Jr. of Wild Rose, WI; and a daughter, Kathy (Wally) Reinke of Phoenix, AZ. He is also survived by a large extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Williams; two brothers, Perry (Alice) Williams, Sr. and Andrew Williams, Jr.; and five sisters, Verlin Bachand, Valeri Hennig, Coreta Williams, Eunice (Arthur) Korleski, and Cecilia Williams.

A Memorial Service will be on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Faith Community Church in Waupaca, WI. Reverend Eric Tober will officiate. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the church. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
