T-Birds lose at home

The Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds girls’ basketball team suffered a 54-21 loss to the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers at home on Jan. 23, in a Central Wisconsin Conference match-up.
W-B took an early lead in the game, out-scoring I-S 27-10 in the first half. Abi Fraaza scored 9 of her game-high 14 points for the Chargers during that period.
Bryanna Kisting poured in 7 points for I-S.
During the second half of the game, W-B once again out-scored I-S, 27-11 to give them the win.
Emily Norrbom scored 7 for the Chargers to keep their momentum alive, while Kisting added 7 more points to the T-Birds cause.
Leading the scoring for I-S was Kisting with 14, followed by Payton Wester, Emilie Briquelet and Kaitlyn Miller with 2 each.
Miller led the rebounding with 10, followed by Kisting and Briquelet with 6 each.
Topping the scoring for W-B is Fraaza with 14, followed by Emma Herb and Norrbom with 8 points each.
The T-Birds will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 26 when they travel to Amherst to take on the Falcons.
