T-Birds drop home game

Amherst now in first place

Amherst added to its lead in the Central Wisconsin Conference East Division boys’ basketball standings Jan. 25 with a 57-40 win over Iola-Scandinavia.

The Falcons outscored the Thunderbirds 24-19 in the first half behind 10 points from Colton Groholski.

Marcus Glodowski added 15 points in the second half for Amherst.

Justin Sivertson led I-S with 11 points, while Carter and Connor Kurki added seven each. Charlie Stockwell led the T-Birds with six rebounds.

Groholski led all scorers with 23 points, while Glodowski finished with 21.

The T-Birds fell to 5-3 in East Division play, while Amherst improved to 7-1. I-S will head to Stevens Point Tuesday, Jan. 30, to face Pacelli at 7:30 p.m.
