Lorenz, Albert “Al”

Albert “Al” Lorenz, age 58, of Waupaca passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 after a long battle with cancer at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Appleton.

Albert Paul Lorenz was born on April 19, 1959 in Milwaukee to Elmer and Izola (Reek) Lorenz. Al grew up in Waupaca / Weyauwega area and in 1970 his family moved north and settled in Clintonville. Al entered the U.S. Army serving from 1978 to 1980 and was stationed for much of his time in Bremerhaven, Germany. After the military, he was employed for some years in the construction industry doing concrete work. Then Al worked for a number of years as a cook at the truck stop in Waupaca. He was a handyman who could fix just about anything. Al enjoyed working on computers, watching All-Star Wrestling on television, and spending time with relatives and friends.

Survivors include his longtime girlfriend, Alice Winters, and her daughter, Sherri (Jim) Immel of Appleton, and their twins, Kayla and Paul; and Alice’s late daughter, Michelle Kutzleb. Al is survived by five siblings: Carlos (Kathy) Nava of Campbellsport, Lydia (Topper) Tratz of Pine River, Duane Lorenz of Clintonville, Barb (Mark) Ferg of Manawa, and Kathy (Curt) Anderson of Marion. He is further survived by his best friend, Dan Timm of Weyauwega; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Al is preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
