Barn fire in Waupaca

Firefighters respond to spreading blaze

A barn and two other structures were destroyed in a fire Monday, March 26, east of Waupaca.

Waupaca firefighters were called out to N2652 Harrington Road shortly after 5 p.m.

When they arrived, firefighters found several buildings fully engulfed in flames and collapsing.

They used the property owner’s Bobcat to remove steel roofing and some of the buildings’ contents.

The fire spread to the rear of the house and firefighters removed some siding in order to extinguish the flames.

Three structures, most of their contents and a truck were destroyed in the fire.

According to the incident report, the fire appeared to have started in the area of a debris burn that took place east of the structures, then spread.

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources was called out for a wildland fire.

Crews from Weyauwega, Scandinavia, Manawa and Saxeville assisted at the scene.
