Man busted for ‘shrooms

Charges follow traffic stop

Cody D. Johnson, 18, Waupaca, is charged with possession of a controlled substance and felony bail jumping.

Shortly before 11 p.m. Friday, April 6, Wisconsin State Trooper Henry Glick noticed a vehicle with a loud muffler traveling northbound on State Highway 22.

As the vehicle passed him, Glick also observed that it had a defective lamp on its rear license plate.

Glick conducted a traffic stop and walked around to the passenger’s side of the vehicle.

Johnson was the driver and the vehicle’s sole occupant.

Glick reported seeing pieces of mushrooms scattered all over Johnson’s shirt and pants.

According to the criminal complaint, Johnson admitted they were psilocybin mushrooms and admitted to eating some about five minutes before Glick pulled him over.

Glick told Johnson to return the mushrooms into a plastic bag. He then took the bag into evidence.

Johnson was charged with burglary and theft on Jan. 9 and released from custody on a $5,000 signature bond.
