Comets shut out Irish

Waupaca 5-1 in conference play

The Waupaca baseball team improved to 5-1 in North Eastern Conference play May 10 with a 3-0 win over Freedom.

Waupaca scored a pair of runs in the top of the second inning before adding an insurance run in the fourth.

The Comets outhit the Irish 6-2.

Adam Kennedy had two hits for Waupaca and Jake Pankratz held Freedom scoreless for six innings to get the win on the mound.

The Comets will host Marinette for a doubleheader at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12.
