Area athletes advance to sectionals

Several area track and field athletes advanced to sectionals following their regional performances on Monday, May 21.

Kimberly Regional

The Hortonville track and field team advanced in nine events at its regional in Kimberly on Monday, May 21.

The top four finishers moved on to sectionals, which will be held at Ashwaubenon on Thursday, May 24.

Hortonville’s 4×800 meter relay team finished second with Clayton Rath, Charlie Wirth, Michael Jarvis and Jake Krause in 8:12.40.

Jake Krause finished in second place in the 3,200-meter run in 9:57.30, and Aliza Van Den Elzen was second in the high jump with a 4-11 score.

Josh Giese finished third in the 200-meter dash in 23.30, Peter Van Wyk placed third in the long jump (19-10.25) and Katy McDicken finished third in the triple jump (33-05.25).

Hortonville’s 4×200 meter relay team of Jayqon Owens, Van Wyk, Aaron Schmitt and Josh Giese finished fourth in 1:33.64.

Lauren Buchinger finished fourth in the 1600-meter run in 5:31.65, and Breylin Soto placed fourth in the shot put (37-01.25).

As a team, the Hortonville boys placed fifth, and the girls finished seventh.

Clintonville Regional

The Truckers hosted their regional on Monday, May 21 and advanced to sectionals in five events.

Clintonville athletes will compete in Freedom on Thursday, May 24 with the opportunity to advance to state.

Allysin Booth will be competing in two events, as she finished first in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.42 and placed second in the high jump (5-00.00).

Riley Hauser finished third in the discus (124-01), while Selina Torrez finished fourth in the shot put and Lizzy Weatherwax placed fourth in the 400-meter dash in 1:05.95.

As a team, the Clintonville girls finished eighth, while the boys placed 10th.

Wautoma Regional

The Bulldogs will compete in 20 sectional events after their performances at the Wautoma Regional on Monday, May 21.

Matt Dobija won the 300-meter hurdles in 42.66 and placed second in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.33.

Riley Titterton won the 800-meter run in 2:06.52 and placed second in the 1,600-meter run in 4:45.41.

Brennan Stroesenreuther finished first in the high jump (5-09.00), and Brayden Kurth tied for first in the long jump (20-07.75).

Mackenzie Monty finished first in the discus (128-08) and second in the shot put (37-01.50).

New London’s 4×800 meter relay boys’ team finished second in 8:25.05, and the 4×200 team placed third in 1:35.09.

Max Krause finished second in the 400-meter dash in 51.26, and Kaden Reybrock placed second in the 3,200 meter run in 10:34.80.

Taya Fecteau finished third in the 3,200-meter run in 13:15.50 and fourth in the 1,600 meter run in 5:55.33.

Ella Johnson placed third in the 200-meter dash in 28.88.

Abbi Gillespie finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.60, and Makaio Harn finished fourth in the 100-meter dash in 11.67.

Jessica Duch finished fourth in the 400-meter dash in 1:07.21.

Matt Bianco advanced in the discus with a fourth-place finish (134-06.50), and Jack Noffke finished fourth in the shot put (45-09).

As a team, the New London boys finished second, and the girls’ team placed sixth.

The Bulldog athletes will compete at the Freedom Sectional on Thursday, May 24.
