Beauty and the Beast Jr.

Children’s theater produces musical

The Waupaca Community Children’s Theatre will present the Disney musical production of “Beauty & The Beast” Jr. directed by Mary Zelinske.

Based on the original Broadway production and the Academy Award-winning motion picture, Disney’s “Beauty & The Beast” Jr. is an adaptation of the story of transformation and tolerance.

The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress.

If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

The show has a number of popular songs including “Be Our Guest”, “Something There”, “Belle”, “Home”, “Gaston”, “Human Again” and of course “Beauty & The Beast”.

Performances will take place at the Waupaca Recreation Center at 1 p.m. Monday, July 23; Tuesday, July 24; Thursday, July 26; and Friday, July 27. An evening performance is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 24.

The Waupaca Community Children’s Theatre is part of the Waupaca Community Theatre and the Waupaca Fine Arts Festival.
