Sasse, Fae B.

Fae B. Sasse, age 93 of Clintonville passed away peacefully Sunday morning, August 19, 2018 at Care Partners Assisted Living in Clintonville.

Fae was born on July 28, 1925 in Clintonville as the daughter of the late Henry and Martha (Nemmetz) Hedtke. As a 1st Grader at St. Martin Lutheran School, Fae received a valentine from her classmate and future husband. She still had the valentine on the day she passed away. Fae Hedtke and Willard “Spud” Sasse were united in marriage on September 21, 1946 at St. Martin. Fae was a faithful member at St. Martin where she was active with the Ladies Aid, Trust Fund, Choir, and Shepherding Committee. She worked for the Clintonville School District as a secretary in the Superintendent’s office for 23 years. Fae and Willard raised their three children and enjoyed spending time together at their cabin on Roberts Lake near Wabeno. Fae enjoyed gardening, singing with the group for the Hedtke family gatherings, watching Brewer games, birdwatching, and loved going fishing with Willard on the Clintonville Pond and Roberts Lake. As a child of the Great Depression, she knew the value of hard work and making do with what they had. She always wore a smile and was an accepting person who was kind to others.

She is survived by: her daughter, Kathy (Gary) Herritz, Warrens, WI; sons, Don (Nancy) Sasse, Billings, MT; Bill (Linda) Sasse, Caledonia, WI; grandchildren: Amy (fiance, Chris Rawley) Sasse, Katie (Jason) Rasoul, Josh (Darlene) Herritz, Sarah (Mark) Zurawski, Laura Bauer, and Parker Sasse; great-grandchildren: Seth, Chelsea, Nolan, and Jillian; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Merritt Sasse, Clintonville; Dr. Mary Sasse, PhD, Carbondale, IL; Gladys Du Mee’, Marion; Betty June Millard, Clintonville; and Mary Ann Romberg, Marion; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
