Leonard was born July 12, 1936 in Lanark (Portage County) Wisconsin to Arnold and Eva Rae (Morgan) Borchert. Leonard joined the Marine Corp and served as a sergeant and fought in the Korean War. After serving he worked different jobs gaining skills that eventually led him to the Waupaca Foundry where he served over 40 years and helped build it to be the global leader that it is today. Len’s circle of family and friends will always remember his big grin, his love for spending time out at “the farm” and in the woods and his long backroad drives. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, working his garden and always was a great resource for advice on any project that was going on. He will be dearly missed.

Len is survived by his children, Terry (Jennifer) Borchert of Ogdensburg, WI; Shelly (Bradley) Kempf of Chippewa Falls, WI and by his stepchildren, Tim (Julie) Tischendorf, Wendy Borszowski, Dan (Dory) Tischendorf all of Waupaca; and grandchildren: Jacob Miller, Joseph Koshak, Noah and Caleb Kempf, Brad and Tyler Tischendorf, Aaron Bennett, Megan Swisher; brothers, Maynard (Janice) Borchert of Kaukauna, WI, Rolland (special friend Evie) Borchert of Florida, and sister Diane Pagel of Waupaca. Len is further survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Len was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Shirley Jansen, brother Randall Borchert, sister-in-law Darlene Borchert and his wife Dona Borchert.

A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church of Waupaca on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. noon with Pastor Bryan Robertson officiating. A visitation will start at 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. noon. Graveside service will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Amherst, WI with military honors.
