Driver charged with felony OWI

Daniel D. Suprise, 40, Waupaca, is charged with a fourth OWI, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

At 1:20 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, Waupaca County Sheriff’s Deputy Brittany Mathewson stopped a vehicle on U.S. Highway 10 because the vehicle’s registration and the owner’s driver’s license was expired.

Mathewson suspected the driver, identified as Suprise, was impaired.

Deputy James Santiago arrived with his K-9 companion, who sniffed the vehicle and alerted to the presence of a controlled substance.

A search of the vehicle found marijuana and a suspected pot pipe.

Suprise has three prior drunken driving convictions, including a 2002 OWI that caused injury.

He was released on a $2,500 signature bond with the condition that he maintain absolute sobriety and comply with the jail’s alcohol monitoring program.
