Q&A with Coach Chad Dobbe

By Erik Buchinger

Number of years as the head coach: First.

Returning varsity athletes: Matthew Morse (12), Austin Baird (12), Donovan Rindt (12), Presley Rosenow (11), Cameron Zeinert (11), Isaac Pyatskowit (11).

Team goals/expectations: We have been in the top half of our conference for the past few years, and I don’t expect that to change this year. We have lost the regional final two years in a row now, and I hope this is the team that can get over that hump.

Team’s strengths: We bring back a very strong defense.

Team’s weaknesses: Getting our offense to gel together. There are lots of new bodies in new places after losing key starters to graduation.

Biggest games on the schedule: Mosinee has become a big rival, and those always seem to produce extra excitement. Of course, the local bragging rights games against Shawano and New London are always fun as well.

What would make for a successful season: “Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.” – soccer legend Pele. Success for us is looking back at the end of the year and not being able to say what if, because every day we gave it everything we had.

Why fans should be excited for this year’s team: These young men will leave it all on the field every single day.
