Relief trip to Florida

Radiant Fellowship collecting for hurricane victims

By Angie Landsverk

For the second time in about a month, Radiant Fellowship is collecting items for those affected by a hurricane in the southern part of the country.

Members of the church are leaving for Florida on Halloween.

They plan to take a van full of supplies to Panama City Beach.

“It looks like a bomb went off,” Bob Adams, Radiant Fellowship’s pastor said of the aftermath of Hurricane Michael.
There are downed houses and trees.

“I know cell service is still down,” he said.

Panama City Beach is located near Mexico Beach, one of the areas devastated by Hurricane Michael.

It was earlier this week that Radiant Fellowship decided to collect items and make another trip.

“We were getting inundated with emails, phone calls and questions about if we were going to do it again,” Adams said.

People may donate diapers, baby wipes, cleaning supplies, water, non-perishable food, pet food and new or gently used clothing for the effort.

Adams said furniture is not being accepted.

From Sunday, Oct. 21 until Saturday, Oct. 27, the church’s trailer is going to be parked in front of Waupaca’s Pick ‘n Save.
Donated items may be placed there.

Area residents may also contact the church at [email protected] or 715-256-7853, to make arrangements.

Monetary donations to cover the cost of gas are also appreciated by the church.

Visit www.radiantfellowship.net for the link to make a donation online to help with that cost.

Adams said the cost for gas was arroximately $450 to 500 during last month’s trip.

On Sept. 20, members of the church headed to Murrells Inlet, South Carolina.

It is near Myrtle Beach and was among the areas affected by Hurricane Florence.

Adams said the trip to South Carolina went well.

They dropped the donated items off at South Strand Assembly of God as planned.

“They had everything dispersed in two days,” he said.

This time, Radiant Fellowship is going to Callaway Assembly of God, in Panama City Beach.

From what Adams knows about the church, parts of it were ripped off from the hurricane.

Like last month, the church is seeking to fill a 15-passenger van with supplies.

Petersen Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep Ram is letting the church use one of its vans.

That was also the case in September.

Radiant Fellowship made arrangements to rent a van.

Adams then noticed Petersen had a van and contacted Todd Petersen, who offered the van for the church’s trip.

Petersen was “kind enough to let us use the van for another trip,” Adams said.

Radiant Fellowship connected with Callaway Assembly of God through a church directory.

While the local church has no problem working with any denomination, Adams said they want to work with a church that has the same focus it has.

“We know all the supplies will go to the community,” he said.
