A Clintonville man is accused of leaving a toddler home alone so he could buy cigarettes.

Shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, Clintonville Police Sgt. Matthew Wright and Officer Anthony Arietta responded to a complaint that a small child had been left home alone.

When Arietta arrived, he reported seeing Zschaechner pull into the driveway, park his vehicle in the garage, then walk out to speak with the officer.

According to the criminal complaint, Zschaechner told Arietta that he had dropped off his 4-month-old infant with a neighbor while he went to get a pack of cigarettes.

He said he left his 16-month-old child at home.
