Comets fall to Irish, Tigers

Waupaca to host Clintonville

Freedom and Wrightstown picked up recent North Eastern Conference girls’ basketball wins over Waupaca.

Freedom defeated the Comets 64-24 Dec. 13 and Wrightstown won 87-48 on Dec. 11.

Freedom 64, Waupaca 24
The Irish used a 20-2 run to take a 38-11 lead into the locker room at halftime before outscoring the Comets 26-13 in the second half.

Seattle Lettau scored all six of her team-high points in the second half for the Comets, while Callie Genke led Freedom with 21.

Wrightstown 87, Waupaca 48
Waupaca scored a season-high 48 points against the Tigers, but it wasn’t enough, as the unbeaten Tigers outscored the Comets 56-18 in the first half and 31-30 in the second.

Kalyn Klug led Waupaca with 10 points, while Brenna Barlow and Shelby Schroeder added nine each. Ella Diny led Wrightstown with 27.

The Comets will host a rescheduled game with Marinette at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, before hosting Clintonville at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18.
