Thunderbirds defeat Bears

With Connor Kurki sitting out most of the first half due to foul trouble, the remaining Iola-Scandinavia Thunderbirds came together to beat the Bonduel Bears 58-55 in overtime Tuesday, Jan. 8.
Justin Sivertson took the lead for I-S, scoring 17 of his game-high 23 points in the first half of the game and giving the T-Birds a 26-24 lead.
Bonduel came on strong in the second half to tie the game at 50-50, sending the game into overtime. Parker Bohm led the Bears, scoring 10 points.
With extra time on the clock, I-S was more than Bonduel could handle and the T-Birds took the win.
Topping the scoring for Bonduel was Bohm with 20, followed by Isaac Boldt with 14 and Jared Wondra with 11.
Leading the way for I-S was Sivertson with 23, followed by Caden Prahl, Parker Prahl and Carter Kurki with 8 each.
The T-Birds improved their record to 10-0 overall and remain on top of the Central Wisconsin-East Conference with a 5-0 record.
