The Waupaca High School Wind Ensemble will depart for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Friday, Jan. 18, in preparation for its weekend performance at the National Band Association Wisconsin Convention.

The group submitted a recorded audition last spring.

After all the entries were reviewed, it was selected to be a featured performer at the event.

The wind ensemble will take the stage for its performance at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19.

The performance will be in the Gantner Concert Hall, at the Haas Performing Arts Center on UW-Eau Claire’s campus.

The event is open to the public and free of charge.

The band will be under the direction of Mark Kryshak and Anna Lussier.

The group must prepare a 45-minute program that includes at least one selection a level or two below what it customarily performs and one selection by an under-represented composer, as well as a diverse program highlighting its skills.

The other groups selected to perform at the convention include the Edina High School Concert Band, Tomah Middle School Eighth-grade Band, University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Wind Ensemble, NBA Inter-Collegiate Band and NBA High School Honors Band.

Students will get the opportunity to hear the groups from Edina and Tomah, as well as the Inter-Collegiate group on Friday evening before their Saturday performance, where they will share the stage with UW-Stevens Point.
