Dog’s death being investigated

The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the suspicious death of a dog in the town of Little Wolf.

Shortly before 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, the sheriff’s office was called regarding a missing dog.

The caller reported that he found a bloody trail that he believed was evidence that his dog was shot.

According to a press release from Deputy Kyle Wiskirchen, an investigation revealed that the missing dog had been shot while on the neighbor’s property.

The dead dog, which the owner has identified as a Great Dane named Gypsy, was later transported and disposed in the South Branch of the Little Wolf River, according to investigators.

The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office says this is an ongoing investigation that will be referred to the district attorney’s office once the investigation is completed.
