Fritz accused of more bad checks

Prosecutors filed new felony charges against a 50-year-old Waupaca woman.

Lorrenda A. Fritz is charged with two counts of felony bail jumping.

According to the criminal complaint, Fritz wrote two checks for $154 on Aug. 3 and $62 on Aug. 6 to Waupaca Chiropractic Center.

Both checks were returned because the account was closed.

In 2018, Waupaca County prosecutors filed six felony cases involving forgery, worthless checks, fraud against a financial institution and felony bail jumping against Fritz.

In 2017, Fritz was allegedly involved in a scheme where she used her computer to print fake checks for a non-existent business called “Custom Candles.”

She then made the checks out to friends who cashed them, kept part of the cash and dropped off Fritz’s portion in either cash or meth, the 2017 criminal complaint says.

Fritz was released from custody on signature bonds on Dec. 12, 2017; Feb. 9, 2018; and March 5, 2018.

Conditions of her bonds included that she not possess or cash any checks other than her Social Security check.

When she was charged with bank fraud, three counts of worthless checks and two counts of felony bail jumping on Sept. 26, 2018, Judge Troy Nielsen set a $2,000 cash bond.

Fritz has since remained in custody.
