Felony pot, misdemeanor theft

Teen charged as repeater

Pomerenke

Jonathan S. Pomerenke, 19, Waupaca, is charged with felony possession of marijuana, two counts of misdemeanor theft, two counts of contributing to the delinquency of minors, misdemeanor bail jumping and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Aug. 3, 2018, Waupaca Police Officer Diana Flatoff responded to a theft complaint at the Oak Street trailer park.

The victim reported his nephew’s mountain bike had been hanging from the beams of a garage and was stolen the prior night.

According to the criminal complaint, security video showed two males wearing bandanas over their faces walking in the area around midnight. One of them looked through a car parked in the driveway, while the other went into the garage and rode away on a bike.

Flatoff later found the missing bike lying in the front yard of a home on East Fulton Street.

The homeowner said her son had two friends over the previous night and one of them was Pomerenke.

The son reportedly told Flatoff that he, Pomerenke and the other teen went car-shopping, meaning they went through parked cars looking for things to steal.

He accused Pomerenke of taking the bike.

He also said Pomerenke had an empty backpack when they left.

When they returned to the Fulton Street home, Pomerenke allegedly dumped a large number of items onto a sofa, including a high-end camera.

Later, Flatoff searched Pomerenke’s backpack and found a number of items that had been reported stolen from parked cars.

She also found two plastic bags with marijuana, the complaint says.

Flatoff also obtained a copy of Facebook messages from Pomerenke regarding the thefts: “Didn’t mean to take that bike, but did cuz I was drunk. Bad drunk decisions is all it was.”

Pomerenke is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 14.

He faces up to 3 1/2 years in prison if convicted of felony possession of marijuana.

Pomerenke has also been charged as a repeater.

On July 9, 2018, Pomerenke was charged with misdemeanor sexual contact with a 15-year-old and released from custody on a $1,000 signature bond.

On March 27, 2018, Pomerenke was sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating a restraining order.

On June 21, 2017, he was convicted of violating a restraining order, possession of marijuana and misdemeanor bail jumping.

He was placed on two years of probation with the condition he have no contact with anyone under the age of 14.

His probation was revoked on Dec. 20, 2017, and he was sentenced to seven months in jail.

On April 17, 2017, Pomerenke was charged with felony child abuse. The charge was dismissed but read into the court record.
