Two face heroin, meth charges

Drug bust lands two people in jail on cash bonds.

Marcus D. Watson, 21, New London, is charged with 14 counts, including three counts of delivery of methamphetamine, possession of meth, possession of narcotics, maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal damage to property, receiving stolen property, carrying a concealed weapon and felony bail jumping.

Watson is being held on a $50,000 cash bond.

Ashley R. Altman, 21, New London, is charged with possession of meth, possession of narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintaining a drug trafficking place and three counts of felony bail jumping.

Altman is in custody on a $5,000 cash bond.

According to the criminal complaint, Waupaca County deputies working with an informant made three purchases of meth from Watson.

The informant allegedly bought 3.5 grams of meth for $200 on July 30, 2018; 7 grams for $400 on Aug. 25; and 14 grams for $750 on Aug. 28.

On Feb. 7, 2019, county deputies and New London police executed a search warrant of Watson and Altman’s apartment on the 300 block of Pearl Street and of Watson’s vehicle.

Officers reported finding a jail uniform that had been taken without consent and a .22-caliber pistol in the center console of Watson’s Jeep.

Watson told investigators he carried the pistol for protection due to his relationship with his meth sources ending on poor terms.

“In an interview, Watson admitted he has wired approximately $50,000 for the purpose of purchasing methamphetamine and has received at least 10 pounds for resale,” the complaint says.

On Oct. 8, 2018, Watson was charged in Menominee County with possession of meth and carrying a concealed weapon and released after posting a $1,500 cash bond.

That same day, Altman was charged with possession of meth, carrying a concealed weapon and obstructing an officer and released on a $2,500 signature bond.
