Man charged with child sex crimes

Police say suspect tried to visit girl in Kentucky

Dakota E. Hedtke, 20, Clintonville, is charged with using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, exposing genitals to a child, causing a child to view sexual activity and exposing a child to harmful material.

In February, Clintonville Police Sgt. Matthew Wright received a tip from Internet Crimes Against Children that Hedtke was engaged in inappropriate behavior with a 13-year-old girl.

According to the criminal complaint, Hedtke told Wright that he began communicating with the girl in September 2018 and continued until February 2019.

Hedtke allegedly sent nude photos and videos of himself to the girl and she sent him nude photos of herself.

He also tried to arrange a flight to Kentucky to meet her, the complaint says.

Wright spoke with the girl who said Hedtke had wanted to visit her and that he was now threatening her.

Hedtke reportedly said he spoke with the girl after Wright first questioned him about their relationship.

Hedtke remains in custody on a $10,000 cash bond. He faces up to 40 years in prison if convicted of using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime.
