Seward, Jan L.

Jan L. Seward, formerly Rolfs, loving mother, grandmother and sister, age 56, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, April 22, 2019 in Waupaca, WI at ThedaCare Medical Center.

She was born June 23, 1962 in Neenah, WI, along with her twin sister Jill. She was the eleventh of fourteen children born to the late James and Patsy (DeMasters) Rolfs. The family moved to Pine River in 1966 where Jan and her siblings enjoyed playing with the neighbors on Pine Hill and swimming in the creek. Jan attended Weyauwega High School during which time she worked at Sawdust City Grill. This is where she met her future husband, Scott Seward. They were married 1980-1983, and had one daughter named Jessi. Jan loved being a mom. In 1986, Jan met Kevin Smith. They purchased a house on Birchwood Lake in Waupaca where Jan worked tirelessly to make the house a home. She loved yard work and turned the overgrown property into a beautiful place. Three fun, energetic boys were born: Mike, Sammy and Landon. Endless memories were made playing with pets, riding bikes, playing sports, swimming and fishing. She instilled a love of the outdoors, fishing, gardening and hard work into her children. In 1999 Jan met Scott Holzbauer, and in 2001 a beautiful daughter, Ashley, was born and adored by all.

Jan is survived by her children: Jessi Seward (Ben) LeNoble, Waupaca; Mike Seward, Waupaca; Landon (Morgan) Smith, Menomonee Falls, and Ashley Holzbauer, Waupaca; grandchildren: Jonathon, Christian, Ayden, Hailey and Alyvia; siblings: Jeanene (Greg) Peterson, Waupaca; Bruce (Kim) Rolfs, Tigerton; Bryan Rolfs, Weyauwega; Joel Rolfs, Waupaca; Scott Rolfs, Waupaca; Jill (Ken) Vergauwen, Waupaca; Lee (Sheila) Rolfs, Clintonville, and Tim Rolfs, Oshkosh: numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Jamie, Kurt, Bill and Mark; a baby sister, Sandra; and her son, Sammy.

A private family memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2019. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established and the family will accept funds made out to the Family of Jan Seward. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
