New London, Marathon win titles

Nine track programs headed to Waupaca High School May 2 for the annual Vic-Tree Invitational.

The Comets hosted the annual meet, which also included teams from New London, Marathon, Wautoma, Winneconne, Rosholt, Pacelli, Wittenberg-Birnamwood, Tri-County and Mosinee.

New London won the boys’ championship with 159 points, followed by Marathon (126), Waupaca (124), Wautoma (94), Winneconne (70), Rosholt (41), Pacelli (38), Wittenberg-Birnamwood (15), Tri-County (11) and Mosinee (10).

Marathon edged Wautoma by two points to win the girls’ title. Team scores were Marathon (150), Wautoma (148), Winneconne (119), Rosholt (78), New London (71), Pacelli (50), Wittenberg-Birnamwood (35), Tri-County (23), Waupaca (20) and Mosinee (3).

Forrest Ziebell turned in the only individual championship for the Comets, as he won the boys’ 3,200-meter run in 10:01.07.
