Scoring runs has been a problem at times for the Waupaca softball team this season.
That wasn’t the case May 15, as the Comets scored 27 runs in a pair of North Eastern Conference wins over Wrightstown.
Waupaca followed a 12-2 win over the Tigers with a 15-12 victory.
The wins came one day after the Comets dropped a 2-1 decision to Clintonville.
Waupaca will open WIAA state tournament play at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at New London. The Comets received a No. 6 seed in Division 2, while the Bulldogs are a No. 3 seed. The winner of that game will play for a regional championship Thursday, May 23, against a team to be determined.
