Museum opens for season

Program on preserving, reproducing vintage photos on June 1

Military veterans and Fremont’s waterski show, the Webfooters, are featured in new displays at the Fremont Area Historical Society Museum.

The museum opens for the summer season on Saturday, May 25.

On Saturday, June 1, bring questions about photography for Patrick Murray, of Murray Photo and Video Inc., in Appleton.

Murray is speaking at 1:30 p.m. that day at the museum.

The museum is located at N7403 State Highway 110.

With more than 37 years’ experience in retail services and teaching photography, Murray will focus on the details of preserving, repairing and reproducing vintage photos.

His retail store, a past recipient of the “Rising Star” award from the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce and Industry, specializes in amateur and professional photographic supplies and equipment plus a one-hour photo-processing service.

Murray, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, has received the “Teaching Excellence” award from Fox Valley Technical College.

The museum and program are free, with monetary donations welcome.

Refreshments will be served.

This year, the museum also features displays about life in, on and around the waterways of the area, plus the Yellowstone Trail, one-room schools and other aspects of local life.

The museum is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on summer Saturdays.
