Amherst and Iola-Scandinavia picked up Central Wisconsin Conference football wins Sept. 20.
Amherst improved to 5-0 on the season and 3-0 in CWC-Large play with a 35-8 win over Loyal/Greenwood, while the Thunderbirds handed Pacelli a 43-8 loss in a matchup of CWC-Small teams.
In other games featuring area teams, Xavier outscored New London, Weyauwega-Fremont lost a road game to Stratford, Waupaca fell to Seymour, Stevens Point came up short against Hudson and Crivitz defeated Manawa.
Amherst 35,
Loyal/Greenwood 8
Quarterback Michael Glodowski and running back Sam Stuczynski had big nights as the Falcons improved to 3-0 in conference play.
Glodowski completed 10 of 11 passes for 121 yards, threw a pair of touchdown passes and ran for another score, while Stuczynski ran for a 179 yards and a pair of scores.
Glodowski connected with Dylan Cook for a 52-yard pass in the first quarter and Sully Perkins for a 27-yarder in the second quarter to help give the Falcons a 21-8 halftime lead.
Stuczynski added touchdown runs of 1 yard in the first quarter and 60 yards in the fourth quarter and Glodowski scored from 21 yards out in the fourth quarter.

Pacelli 8
Billy Myers and Jensen Rice each had a pair of rushing touchdowns in a win over the Cardinals.
Myers scored on runs of 37 and 68 yards in the first quarter and Rice scored on 56- and 9-yard runs in the second quarter. Rice added a 9-yard touchdown pass to Korz Loken in the second quarter and the T-Birds took a 35-0 lead at halftime.
Charlie Tappa wrapped up the T-Birds’ scoring with an 11-yard run in the fourth quarter before Eric Reincke scored Pacelli’s touchdown on a 50-yard run.
Iola-Scandinavia outgained the Cardinals 302-119 on the ground and 110-76 through the air.
Myers and Rice ran for 123 and 120 yards, respectively, while Loken caught four of Rice’s passes for 75 yards.
Xavier 63,
New London 20
The Hawks took a 21-lead into the second quarter and went on to hand the Bulldogs a Bay Conference loss at Bulldog Stadium.
Eight of Xavier’s scores came on runs. Quarterback Matthew Potter scored on runs of 30, 2 and 38 yards; Cole Hietpas added 17- and 47-yard runs; and Eli Mares opened the scoring with a 1-yard run and later added a 60-yard kickoff return; and Jonah Gentry and Carter Hermus had 1- and 54-yard runs, respectively.
New London scored once in the second quarter, added a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter and trailed 35-20 heading into the fourth quarter, but the Hawks pulled away with four unanswered touchdowns.
Stratford 53,

The Warhawks found the end zone five times against the defending WIAA Division 6 state champions, but didn’t have an answer for the Tigers’ offense.
Stratford scored on eight straight possessions in the CWC-Large matchup, but Weyauwega-Fremont was able to keep up early.
Caleb Wrensch opened the scoring by capping the Tigers’ opening drive with a 7-yard run, but the Warhawks answered with Kameron Zielke’s 4-yard run and trailed 7-6 heading into the second quarter.
The teams exchanged touchdowns in the second quarter, as Stratford quarterback Jack Tubbs scored from 3 yards out and the Warhawks cut the Tigers’ lead to 13-12 on Zielke’s 4-yard pass to Carter Birdyshaw.
Wrensch returned Weyauwega-Fremont’s kickoff 88 yards to set up Brooks Vanderhoof’s 13 yard run. A successful two-point conversion gave the Tigers a 21-13 lead, but Stratford wasn’t finished in the first half. Tubbs added to the Tigers’ lead with a 20-yard run, but the Warhawks came up with another score on a fake punt, as Charles Mueller threw a 64-yard pass to Broc Billington.
Stratford answered before halftime on Reid Miller’s 14-yard touchdown run that gave the Tigers a 33-19 lead.
The teams combined for five more touchdowns in the second half, as Miller, Jett Schoenherr and Vanderhoof scored on runs of 40, 3 and 7 yards for Stratford and the Warhawks scored on Zielke’s 38-yard pass to Birdyshaw and Zielke’s 90-yard kickoff return.
Zielke completed seven of 16 passes for 168 yards and also led the Warhawks with 127 rushing yards. Billington caught three passes for 151 yards.
Seymour 56,
Waupaca 32
Seymour kept pace with Winneconne at the top of the Bay Conference standings with a home win over the Comets.
Waupaca headed to Seymour following an 18-17 win over previously unbeaten Fox Valley Lutheran, but didn’t have enough to keep pace with the Thunder.
Waupaca’s touchdown with 24.6 seconds remaining in the first half cut Seymour’s lead to 20-19, but the Thunder added to its lead as time expired on Cayden Staffeldt’s 8-yard pass to Carter Gessay.
Fumbles on Waupaca’s first two drives of the second half led to a pair of Seymour touchdowns, as the Thunder’s lead grew to 40-19 midway through the third quarter.
Xzaver Pittman and Austin Adamczak accounted for all 307 of the Comets’ rushing yards. Pittman led the team with 206 yards on 36 carries, while Adamczak added 101 yards on the ground and completed three of 10 passes for 51 yards.
Xavier Salzman finished with 230 of the Thunder’s 463 rushing yards. Staffeldt threw three touchdown passes and threw for 127 yards.
Hudson 21,
Stevens Point 14
Stevens Point picked up a 21-14 win over Raiders last year, but Hudson got the win by the same score in the rematch on a touchdown in the final minute.
Four of the game’s five touchdowns came in the second quarter as the teams headed to the break tied at 14-14.
Payton Pingel scored on runs of 1 and 8 yards for Hudson, while Stevens Point’s Grant Chandonais scored on quarterback keepers of 8 and 1 yards.
Neither team scored again until Pingel’s 2-yard run with 52 seconds remaining in the game.
Chandonais and Johnny Mathews accounted for all 215 of the Panthers’ rushing yards with 112 and 103, respectively.
Crivitz 47,
Manawa 0
Brody MacNeil found the end zone three times in the first half to help lead the Wolverines to a win over the Wolves.
MacNeil scored on runs of 3, 13 and 3 yards as the home team built a 38-0 halftime lead.
Evan Orlando scored on a 39-yard quarterback keeper in the second quarter, Brayden Sellin scored from 29 yards out in the fourth quarter and Stephen Allard kicked a 26-yard field goal in the first quarter.
