Art show survives the snow

Posted

NEW LONDON - Wolf River Art League struggled with fundraising on Saturday, Feb. 8 as the snow storm kept many art lovers home during the 55th annual Mid-Winter Art Show at Crystal Falls. With the roads plowed on Sunday, the community turned out in greater numbers and showed their support of the arts. Proceeds from this event allow the league to award two high school students $1,000 scholarships in their continued art education.
Art historian Lisa Anderson of Appleton was the 2025 judge, and covered for Samuel Watson, a second judge who could not make the Saturday morning trip from snow-dumped Green Bay.
The league is now in its second year of fundraising for their upcoming sculpture trail project. They sold additional metal fish that will become part of a community sculpture along the trail at Riverside Park. Monies raised in selling the metallic fish will be applied to sculpture footings, landscaping and signage for the trail. During the art show, children worked at an art zone to decorate paper cutouts of fish and added them to a silvery background. The league is looking for financial support and volunteers who want to be a part of this exciting sculpture trail.
